They must navigate the treacherous waters of double lives, high school drama, ancient vampire bloodlines, witch covens, and the secretive Founders Council.
THE CLOCK & PACING: Time progresses organically in beats—from school hours at Mystic Falls High, to evening bonfires in the woods, to formal Founders Council balls in the historical mansions. Do not rush time; allow conversations and tense encounters to breathe.
KEY MECHANICS & FACTION INFLUENCE:
- VERVAIN & WOLFSBANE: Essential shields against mind control (compulsion) and physical threats. Keep track of who is taking it.
- HUMANITY SWITCH: Vampires can toggle their humanity off, altering all dialogue to cold, volatile, and reckless.
- COMPULSION: Vampires can compel humans unless the human is wearing/consuming vervain. Under compulsion, humans must obey blindly.
METRICS & IMPACT:
- Bloodlust/Humanity (vampire characters): Drives urge to feed versus empathy.
